🌍 World Refugee Day 🌍

Today at Donegal Women’s Centre, we stand in solidarity with communities around the world marking World Refugee Day.

This day is an opportunity to honour the strength, courage, and resilience of refugees everywhere—people who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or crisis, and who are rebuilding their lives in new and unfamiliar places.

We recognise the many challenges that can come with arriving in a new community: navigating services, language, culture, and uncertainty about the future. At the heart of this is a shared need for safety, dignity, and belonging—rights that every person deserves.

Refugees bring with them skills, culture, and lived experiences that enrich our communities in meaningful ways. Their contributions strengthen our society, deepen our understanding of one another, and remind us of the value of compassion and inclusion.

Today is also a reminder of the importance of welcome—of creating communities where people are treated with respect, supported with kindness, and given the opportunity to rebuild their lives with hope.
