Do You Need Emergency Contraception?
Free, Confidential Sexual Health Support for Young Women Aged 17–25
If you think you may need emergency contraception, it can be helpful to get advice as soon as possible.
A free drop-in sexual health clinic is available for women aged 17–25 across Donegal. You can come along to speak with a healthcare professional in a supportive and confidential environment.
💜 Have You Had Unprotected Sex?
Emergency contraception can be an important option after unprotected sex or if your usual contraception has failed — for example, if a condom has split or slipped, or if contraception has not been used as planned.
If you’re unsure whether emergency contraception may be appropriate for you, come in and talk to a healthcare professional. They can discuss your situation with you and provide information about your options.
🌿 Don’t Be Afraid to Ask
It can be stressful if you are worried about an unintended pregnancy or unsure what to do after unprotected sex.
You don’t need to feel embarrassed or judged. The clinic provides a confidential space where you can ask questions and talk through your concerns.
You can discuss:
- Whether you may need emergency contraception
- Your emergency contraception options
- What to do after unprotected sex
- Contraception and ongoing pregnancy prevention
- Sexual health concerns
- Any other questions you may have
Emergency contraception is time-sensitive, so if you think you may need it, seeking professional advice promptly is important.
