One in Three Women in Ireland Has Experienced Domestic Abuse
Domestic abuse is a serious and widespread issue in Ireland. Shockingly, one in three women has experienced some form of domestic abuse, and since 1996, 277 women have died violently in our country.
The effects of domestic abuse are far-reaching. Women affected can experience harm physically, emotionally, psychologically, and socially. The trauma often extends beyond the individual, impacting families and leaving lasting effects on children. No one should have to live in fear or carry the weight of abuse.
At Donegal Women’s Centre, our Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy and Counselling Service offers safe, confidential, and non-judgemental support to women who have experienced abuse — whether it is current, recent, or historical. Our trained team is here to listen, guide, and help you take practical steps toward safety, healing, and recovery.
You are not alone. Support is available, and help is possible.
