There Is No Excuse for Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is never justified.
There is no excuse — ever.
If abuse happens to you, it is not your fault. It is not caused by what you said, what you did, or who you are. Domestic abuse is about power and control — and it is unacceptable in any relationship or situation.
Abuse can leave women feeling frightened, confused, isolated, or ashamed. But responsibility always lies with the person choosing to harm and control — never with the person experiencing it.
You Have the Right to Safety
There are laws in place to protect and support those who experience abuse. You have the right to live free from fear. You have the right to safety, protection, and respect.
Support is available, whether the abuse is happening now, has happened recently, or is part of your past. Reaching out does not mean you have to take any immediate action — it simply means you are choosing to speak to someone who will listen and support you.
You Do Not Have to Face It Alone 💜
At Donegal Women’s Centre, we provide a safe, confidential, and compassionate space for women to talk, explore their options, and access specialist support.
We understand how difficult it can be to reach out. Our team is here to listen without judgement and to support you at your own pace.
You deserve to feel safe.
You deserve to be heard.
You deserve support.
