🎗️ World Sarcoma Awareness Month 🎗️
July marks World Sarcoma Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness of sarcoma — a rare and often overlooked group of cancers that affect the bones and soft tissues of the body.
Sarcoma is not a single disease, but a broad category of cancers that can develop anywhere in the body. Because it is relatively uncommon, it is often not immediately recognised, which can lead to delays in diagnosis and treatment. This makes awareness and education especially important.
World Sarcoma Awareness Month aims to improve understanding of the condition, support earlier diagnosis, and highlight the experiences of patients and families affected by sarcoma. Increasing awareness among the public and healthcare professionals can play a vital role in identifying symptoms sooner and improving outcomes.
Common signs can vary depending on where the sarcoma develops, but persistent symptoms such as unexplained lumps, swelling, or ongoing pain should always be assessed by a medical professional. While these symptoms are often caused by less serious conditions, it is important not to ignore them.
Throughout July, we stand in solidarity with those living with sarcoma, survivors, and the families who support them. We also recognise the importance of continued research, better treatment options, and accessible support services for everyone affected.
Raising awareness saves lives. The more we understand sarcoma, the earlier it can be detected and treated.
